Welcome to Teen Chat — JustaChat's dedicated chat room for users ages 13 to 17. This is a safe, friendly, and strictly moderated space where teens can meet new people and talk about school, hobbies, music, gaming, sports, movies, and whatever else is going on in their world. The room is open to teens from the US, UK, Canada, Australia, India, and around the globe, which means there's almost always someone online to talk to regardless of when you drop in.

Teen Chat is the most strictly enforced room on the JustaChat network. Moderators are active and present — not just on-call — which makes a real difference in how the room feels day to day. Sexual content, bullying, hate speech, and sharing of personal information are all zero-tolerance violations resulting in immediate permanent bans. Adults attempting to enter the room are blocked by the age verification on the login form and removed if detected inside. This isn't just policy — it's actively enforced.

No registration or download is required to join. Pick a nickname, verify your age using the date of birth fields, and you're in. Private messaging is available within the chat client if you'd like to continue a conversation one-on-one. Teens who create a free account can save their nickname and access additional chat features — but text chat as a guest is always free and always open. If you're 18 or older, Adult Chat is the right room for you — and Singles Chat and The Cafe are both open to adults as well.

Chat rooms exist on a wide spectrum — from actively moderated, age-gated platforms to essentially unmoderated free-for-alls where age verification is a checkbox that anyone can lie through. We want to be clear about what JustaChat's Teen Chat is, what we do to enforce it, and where the limits are.

Who is allowed in Teen Chat. Teen Chat is restricted to users ages 13 to 17. The login form limits the year dropdown to eligible birth years, and the age verification script blocks anyone whose entered date of birth calculates to 18 or older and redirects them to our Adult Chat room. We are transparent that this is a date-of-birth field — not a hard ID verification — which is true of virtually every free teen chat platform including 321Chat and Chat Avenue. No free web-based chat room can guarantee every user is who they claim to be. What we can do, and what we do, is actively monitor and remove users who behave in ways inconsistent with the age restrictions.

How moderation actually works here. JustaChat's Teen Chat is the most strictly moderated room on the network — more so than Adult Chat or Singles Chat. Staff are actively present in the room, not just on-call. Zero tolerance violations — sexual content, bullying, sharing of personal contact information, or adult predatory behavior — result in immediate permanent bans, not warnings. We have cooperated with law enforcement when required and will continue to do so. That said, no chat room is perfectly safe, and we encourage parents to have open conversations with their teens about what they're sharing and who they're talking to online.

What your teen should never share online. Regardless of which platform they're using, teens should never share their real name, home address, school name, phone number, email address, or any social media account handle in a public chat room. This rule exists in our posted rules, is reinforced by moderators, and violations are acted on quickly. But the strongest protection is a teen who already understands why this matters. Talk to your teen about online privacy before they join any chat platform — not as a restriction, but as a habit that protects them everywhere online.

How to report something that concerns you. If your teen experiences harassment, inappropriate contact, or anything that makes them feel unsafe — or if you as a parent observe something concerning — use our contact page to submit a report to our staff. Include as much detail as possible: the nickname involved, what was said, and approximately when it happened. All reports are reviewed by a real person and acted on promptly. You do not need an account to submit a report.

Compared to the alternatives. Chat Avenue's teen room has been publicly criticized for inconsistent moderation and difficulty keeping adults out. 321Chat is transparent about its volunteer moderation model and acknowledges moderators are not always present. JustaChat's Teen Chat uses staff moderators — not volunteers — who are actively present during peak hours. We make no claim to being perfectly safe, because no online platform is. But we take the moderation of this room more seriously than any other room we run, and that difference is meaningful.
